These guys are awesome. Check out this video clip of an impromptu performance on the Paris Metro.
Here’s their current track, “Wall of Sound”, which is also fantastic.
Thanks to John for pointing me towards them a couple of weeks ago.

The Ecstasy of Gold
by Steve on Sep.23, 2008, under Games, Music
The latest version of Fortress Forever comes with a great piece of startup music that many will recognise as a cover of Ennio Morricone’s famous “The Ecstasy of Gold”, from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Its also well known amongst Metallica fans, as they use it to open their live shows.
This particular version is an acoustic guitar rendition of the song, and you can listen to it here.

Jonathan Coulton
by Steve on Mar.01, 2008, under Games, Music
My first exposure to Jonathan Coulton was the brilliant song “Still Alive” that you get rewarded with when you complete the (fantastic) game, Portal. If you go and visit his site you can buy his music, download some of it for free (and DRM-free too), and sample pretty much all of it. Quality stuff!
He was on TWiT about a week ago, worth a listen if you enjoy his music.
Best album cover ever.

Oh yes. This is as good as it gets! Plenty more crazy shit like this over at “Katastrofala Omslag”. No, I don’t know how to pronounce that either.
Bell-end of the week: Elton John
by Steve on Aug.05, 2007, under Bell-ends, Music
Haven’t had one of these for a while, but Elton John really pulled out all the stops this week and made it.
Elton John is convinced the only way to save music is to shut the internet down.
The British pop superstar fears there’s “too much technology available” and claims that it is starving musical creativity.
I think boards.ie poster Hagar summed it up best in this thread
Haven’t you got enough money to keep you in stupid glasses and lube for the rest of your life? Greedy fat bastard.
I’m convinced the only way to save music is to shut Elton John down.

I haven’t been able to find a real video of this, but this one on YouTube is a good replacement. It features the aforementioned Polkarama with clips from the videos of the songs its actually based on
