Tropic Thunder
I went to see Tropic Thunder at the cinema tonight. I thought it was funny as fuck and would recommend it to anyone with a functioning sense of humour.

I saw this on boards.ie’s Grand Theft Auto forum last night and thought it was excellent. Someone has gone and remade the famous intro sequence from The Naked Gun in GTA4
Here is the original intro from the film:
While we’re at it, here’s the Family Guy version:
Crap quality but its the only one on Youtube. It gets extra points for the Doom reference
This is fucking brilliant. Its the opening scene from their film, “The Pick of Destiny”.
Notice Meatloaf and Dio!
“Dio can you hear me?
I am lost and so alone
I’m asking for your guidance
Would you come down from your throne?
I need the tight compadre that will teach me how to rock
My father thinks you’re evil but man, he can suck a cock”
Brilliant.
I went to see the new 007 film, “Casino Royale” tonight in the local Cineplex. It didn’t quite live up to all the hype I’ve been hearing about it recently, but its not a bad film. I wasn’t expecting Daniel Craig to make such a good James Bond, but he does. He’s a much darker, more ruthless bond, and I think the franchise is better off for it.
There’s a great scene during the first 10 minutes or so which consists mostly of Craig trying to keep up with a terrorist-cum-parkour expert in Uganda. Very amusing to watch.
He’s got a very sexy new Aston Martin DBS to play with too, along with the new Ford Mondeo (???) for a while.
Speaking of sexy, the bond girls are, as usual, very hot and enjoyable to watch. See for yourself:

A word of warning: Product placement is rife in this film. You’d swear Sony manufactured all of the electronics in the world judging by this.
Casino Royale also gets very slow and boring for a while towards the end, and it left me feeling like they were just making it longer for the sake of it. Despite the above, its still an amusing film, and a must-see for anyone like me who grew up watching Bond films.
6.5/10 - Not quite a royale with cheese then.

Pulp Fiction has got to be one of the most quotable films ever.
For example:
[after Butch saves Marsellus from rapists]
Butch: You okay?
Marsellus: Naw man. I’m pretty fuckin’ far from okay.
Butch: What now?
Marsellus: What now? Let me tell you what now. I’ma call a coupla hard, pipe-hittin’ niggers, who’ll go to work on the homes here with a pair of pliers and a blow torch. You hear me talkin’, hillbilly boy? I ain’t through with you by a damn sight. I’ma get medieval on your ass.
Butch: I meant what now between me and you?
Marsellus: Oh, that what now. I tell you what now between me and you. There is no me and you. Not no more.
Quality.
My good friend John edited this film as part of his final year in college in the UK. If you have a spare 45-or-so minutes, its worth a watch. Let him know what you think by mailing gatheringreply@gmail.com or by leaving a comment here.

Saw this the other night, and it was bloody good. Best Batman flick ever, in my opinion. I hope they keep Christian Bale on for another one, the role suits him. Most of the cast were A-listers, with Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Katie Holmes, Liam Neeson, Cillian Murphy and more.
Recommended.
You suck.
Kilkenny Cineplex seems to have some kind of policy against showing new films as they are released. I’m still waiting for Lord of War to show up, and its been out 2 weeks now. There’s a few other films I’d liked to have seen as well, such as Red Eye, which as far as I can tell, never made an appearance there. This seems to be quite a regular occurrence. Good film? Sorry, we won’t be showing it.
Muppets.
I went to see Boy Eats Girl in the cinema tonight. I was fully expecting it to be crap, but it turned out to be very amusing indeed. Sara James (you know, yer wan from the ill-fated RTE series ‘The Big Bow-Wow’) was particularly hot looking in it.

This is very cool indeed.
Oh, and on a totally unrelated tangent, Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade is on BBC1 tonight at 8.
