Extreme Pizza = win

Extreme Pizza recently opened their first branch outside of the US here in Kilkenny. I’m just after having their “Ragin’ Rooster” pizza and it was absolutely bloody delicious! I’m not usually one for pimping businesses but credit where credit is due.
The ragin’ rooster consists of chicken marinated in barbecue sauce, red onions, coriander, cheddar and mozzarella and it rocks. Hopefully this chain expands across Ireland in the future.

Trackmania Nations Forever

Anyone remember the free game Trackmania Nations from a couple of years ago? Well its brand new follow-up, Trackmania Nations Forever has been released and its still free :)

Its a 504MB download. If you’ve got the not-free Trackmania United (like me) you can download a 900MB update that overhauls its graphics and makes it fully compatible with Trackmania Nations Forever in multiplayer :)

Free stuff is great.

Grand Theft Auto 4 is going to be fucking EPIC.

Yes it is. An early review of the Xbox 360 version has been leaked to the internets. I’ve had it preordered for about 6 months from a web shop, hopefully it will arrive close enough to the release date.

I’m sure it will appear for PC a few months down the line. That’ll be a guaranteed purchase too. I’ve always preferred the GTA games with a keyboard and mouse!

Boycott Rock Band

Not content with making europeans wait for months after Rock Band was released in the US, the game’s distributor, Electronic Arts has decided to give us all a good hard shafting too.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Rock Band retails for $169 in the US. This includes the game and all of the peripheral instruments. Here in europe you can have it for €240. Yes. Lets do some currency conversion, shall we? At today’s rates, $169 will get you €106.65. Even when you take the difference in VAT over here and US sales taxes over there into account we’re still getting ripped right the fuck off. We’ve accepted the dodgy $1 = €1 style european RRPs for a long time now, but this is taking the piss.

Fuck you, EA.

Unless you’re able to shit gold bricks you should join me in boycotting this game. Show them that we’re not a bunch of saps that will bend over and take it in the ass just because we don’t live in the US.

There’s loads of flames being thrown on various Eurogamer comment threads about Rock Band. Feel free to throw your tuppenceworth in there too.

Jonathan Coulton

My first exposure to Jonathan Coulton was the brilliant song “Still Alive” that you get rewarded with when you complete the (fantastic) game, Portal. If you go and visit his site you can buy his music, download some of it for free (and DRM-free too), and sample pretty much all of it. Quality stuff!
He was on TWiT about a week ago, worth a listen if you enjoy his music.

Burnout Paradise

I love this game. It finally arrived in the post yesterday about 2 weeks after the ebay muppet I got it from was supposed to ship it. I ended up spending 4 hours at it last night. I’m using the Xbox 360 version - its also out for Playstation 3. If you want something to show off that fancy new HDTV, this is it! The graphics look brilliant and it keeps up a high frame rate throughout. Highly recommended!

Asda currently kicking Play.com’s arse

I’m a long-time customer of play.com, with countless orders over the years. A while back they made Euro-pricing available on their site, but used an unfavourable rate so it was still cheaper to order in Sterling. Later they prevented customers with non-UK addresses from purchasing items in Sterling, effectively forcing them to use their crappy Euro exchange rate.

So now I’m buying my games and DVDs from Asda Entertainment, who currently only price stuff in Sterling. Given the Euro’s recent strength against the pound, things are now quite cheap there. I’ve just ordered Ghost Squad for the Wii, which will be released this week for £23.93. Using today’s Sterling exchange rate, that’s only €31.75! Compare that to €38.99 on Play. I got Forza 2 for the Xbox 360 there last week for £14.93, which is €19.78. Play are charging €61.99 for it!

Bye bye play, its been nice knowin’ ya.

As Walter Sobchak said to the kid in The Big Lebowski, “This is what happens when you fuck a stranger in the ass!”
