I love you GTA4.

So I finished the main story missions in Grand Theft Auto 4 this evening. It was super high quality all the way. It took me approximately 50 hours and there’s still tons of side stuff left to do in the game, as well as multiplayer and general sandbox fooling about.

All that for €60. That’s what I call a bargain.

I can’t see anything else that gets released this year topping GTA4. Its certainly my game of the year.

I also got a bargaintastic 50+ hours out of it before finishing the storyline (I was one of the lucky few who got it in Tesco for €39.95 at 9am on release day)
I’m currently re-playing it to make the exact opposite choices I made the first time… just to see the extra shit I missed… but as expected, it’s not as fun the 2nd time around.

Which ending did you get btw?

Ok: (spoiler warning for those who haven’t finished it yet)

I chose to spare Darko’s life and to cap that bastard Dimitri which led to Pegorino crashing Roman’s wedding and killing Kate, followed by me hunting him down and executing him.

On another topic, I found cruising around central park on a Faggio as part of a mission for Florian/Bernie to be quite the laugh :)

Imagine if Florian had been the lead charactor instead of Niko… that’d have made for an interesting 50 hours :p

I got the other ending where Roman gets shot at his wedding.
The really crap thing was, the supposedly big-money deal with Dimitri only yielded 250k, which is the same amount of cash you’re given earlier in the game for the bank job with Patrick… so why didn’t they quit crime and start living the high life *then*?
I want the happy-ending mod tbh.

The kill-Dimitri path involves a huge action-packed mission on the ship that Niko arrived in Liberty City on - what happens when you do the deal with him instead?

Not much at first, the deal mission is a pretty bog-standard kill-em-all-and-escape affair.
There’s a mission after that where you hunt down Dimitri, which is more epic and action-packed.

Shoot lots of guys in an old building, chase an escaping helicopter using a speedboat, chase the same helicopter in another helicopter, both helicopters crash on Happiness Island, more shooting… the end.
