FF Builder Tent is no more

Brian Cowen has announced that the infamous Fianna Fail tent at the Galway Races is no more.

Some of the posters over at The Property Pin had some amusing comments to make on it:

Brian’s no fool.

Scraps the tent.
Avoids having to face the builders.
And comes accross as cleaner than Bertie, clean slate, no more FF tied to the builders.

Nice one BC.

They’re downsizing to a telephone box - they are not expecting many solvent builders at Galway this year.

He knows that being seen to be cosy with builders when the full scale of the mugging of young Irish people becomes apparent over the next couple of years won’t be a wise move.

I disagree, in the 70’s they were probably the farmers party with the IFA pulling the strings. In the 80’s, it was the industrialists like Goodman, Smurfit and co.

They’ll move on to the next profitable donor-industry now - this is as sure a sign as you’ll get that property has had it day. BC is cutting the apron-strings, the CIF are on their own now.

I have to say I agree with most of them. As anyone who knows me already knows, I’m no fan of Fianna Fail but its refreshing to see the new Taoiseach making some changes that appear to be for the greater good, even if there are possible ulterior motives that can explain them.

I love you GTA4.

So I finished the main story missions in Grand Theft Auto 4 this evening. It was super high quality all the way. It took me approximately 50 hours and there’s still tons of side stuff left to do in the game, as well as multiplayer and general sandbox fooling about.

All that for €60. That’s what I call a bargain.

I can’t see anything else that gets released this year topping GTA4. Its certainly my game of the year.

Burnout Paradise for PC

Criterion Games today announced that they plan to release Burnout Paradise on PC. I’ve already got it on the Xbox 360 and enjoyed it a lot. The PC, however, is my platform of choice. I’d love to see what modders could get up to with Burnout. Seeing it in uber-high resolutions should be nice too.

GTA4 = best. game. ever.

Michael hooked me up with a copy of GTA4 for the Xbox 360 :) Sendit.com can suck my balls.

I’ve spent the last 5 hours totally engrossed in the world of Grand Theft Auto 4 and I still can’t get enough of it. This game has such fantastic atmosphere. The city feels like its alive.

The first time I accidentally had a head on car crash and Niko came flying out the windscreen I nearly shit my pants laughing. Realistic physics + ragdolls + Grand Theft Auto = epic win. If you haven’t already got this game, and you can find it… BUY IT. I say all this before even trying the multiplayer component of the game which by all accounts is fantastic fun also.

Goldrush

Valve released a new map (and consequently, a new game type) for Team Fortress 2 this week, called Goldrush. I had gotten a bit tired of the game but this new map has me addicted again. It is massively fun. It will help to fill the void while I STILL WAIT FOR GTA4.

Goldrush is done in an art style similar to that of dustbowl but I find the gameplay much more fun. Essentially the blue team has to escort a mine cart along the tracks until it reaches the end of the line. The red team has to stop them. The cart only moves when blue players are close to it. The more players close by, the faster it moves.

Since the cart has to follow a fixed path you can expect lots of sentry guns and ambushes. The fixed path focuses players to congregate in the same area, making for some fun action.
