I’m out again
Going back to China bright and early tomorrow morning. Back in about a week’s time. Seeya!

Gmail just keeps getting better and better. They recently added free IMAP access, which has been a godsend. Now the available storage has just topped 5GB (depending on your definition of GB. Over 5000MB anyway!).

Oh yes. This is as good as it gets! Plenty more crazy shit like this over at “Katastrofala Omslag”. No, I don’t know how to pronounce that either.
Since I got that nice cheap RAM the other day, I’ve now got more memory than 32-bit operating systems can address. I’m running Windows Vista Home Premium. Fortunately Microsoft allow you to use your Vista CD key for either 32 or 64-bit (not both at once, obviously), but you have to pay them to get the 64-bit disc, unless you have Vista Ultimate. The fee is a mere €10+vat. What was most surprising is that I ordered it yesterday and it arrived today. From Germany. Via UPS. I suspect that cost them more than my tenner! And that’s after their website said to wait up to 28 days for delivery
I’m going to upgrade tonight, so see you later. Unless it doesn’t work. Uh oh.
Update: That went rather well. Everything seems faster. So much so that I’m beginning to think something was wrong with my 32-bit installation!
… Car insurance has finally started to become more affordable.
FBD and Allianz are now quoting me less than a grand to comprehensively cover my Civic 1.8! They wouldn’t quote me last year, nor would Hibernian. Hibernian are looking for a little more, but since their website wouldn’t let my specify that my car is an i-VTEC (just “Honda”, 1.8) they might tell me to fuck off. I don’t want to give that shower of wankers my money anyways. Axa also lack an online quote system, ergo they suck.
George Bush sure has a great talent for saying stupid things. From today’s BBC News:
Mr Bush said he told Gen Musharraf it was not right to continue as both president and head of the military.
“My message was that we believe strongly in elections and that you ought to have elections soon and you need to take off your uniform,” Mr Bush told reporters.
“You can’t be the president and the head of the military at the same time, so I had a very frank discussion with him.”
Guess who the commander-in-chief of the US military is?
Epic.
I can’t believe how utterly cheap DDR2 RAM has gotten. When I built this computer about a year ago I paid €231 for 2 gigs of mid range RAM for it. Now you can buy 2 gigs for less than €50! Well, less than €50 until you add VAT and postage, but its still dirt cheap. 4GB here I come, time to upgrade to a 64 bit operating system now I think!
