The fuji is nice to start off with when you're dipping your toe into the whole DSLR world but you'd quickly outgrow it and end up wishing you hadn't got a fixed lens camera. Try and squeeze in a 50mm f1.8 lens if you can. They're not too expensive and worth their weight in gold. Hey I’d definitely recommend the D50 over the Fuji.
