New York

I had posted a while back about the camera I plan to buy when I go to New York next week. Bok has since persuaded me to go for an SLR (he twisted my rubber arm) over the fixed-lens Fuji. I’m going to pick up a Nikon D50, 18-55mm Nikkor lens and a cheap 70-300mm Sigma telephoto lens. This does blow my original budget out of the water but I think it’ll be a lot better in the long run.

I plan to pick up a cheap/light/portable/mostly crappy plastic tripod too. I have a couple of SD cards (256MB and 2GB) already that’ll fit it fine. Can’t wait now, today is my last day in work before I head off :)

Hey I’d definitely recommend the D50 over the Fuji. The fuji is nice to start off with when you’re dipping your toe into the whole DSLR world but you’d quickly outgrow it and end up wishing you hadn’t got a fixed lens camera.

Try and squeeze in a 50mm f1.8 lens if you can. They’re not too expensive and worth their weight in gold.
