Pimp my PC

Its PC upgrade time again. Yesterday I ordered the following components from Komplett:

  • Abit AB9 Pro socket 775 motherboard
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 CPU (2.4GHz/4MB)
  • 2×1GB sticks of cheap PC5300 RAM
  • 320GB SATA hard disk
  • SATA DVD burner

I only ordered the hard disk and DVD burner because all of these new i965 motherboards don’t have any more than one IDE port, and I still have lots of IDE stuff. I’ll be retiring one of my IDE hard drives and a 6-month-old DVD burner, and replacing them with the SATA bits mentioned above.

I’ll be cramming all of this stuff into my existing cheap and nasty case, along with a few existing components, namely:

  • Hiper 580w power supply
  • 300GB sata hard drive
  • 2×250GB IDE hard drives
  • XFX 6800GT PCI-Express graphics card
  • Audigy 2 ZS PCI sound card

That should keep me going for a while. The graphics card will probably be upgraded several months down the line.

Anyways, once I get all of that put together, I’ll most likely have the following stuff for sale:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ CPU
Abit AN8 socket 939 motherboard (onboard sound/ethernet/bells/whistles)
2GB of PC3200 DDR RAM (2×256, 1×512, 1×1024)
120GB 7200 RPM IDE disk (can’t remember manufacturer right now. Probably Western Digital)
Lite-On 16x IDE DVD+/-RW dual layer burner

I’d like to at least get rid of the CPU, motherboard and RAM together. I’ll split it up if I don’t manage to shift ‘em as a bundle. Any offers? :)

[...] I’ve been building my own PC’s for about 4 years now, but have never tried my hand at overclocking until this evening. You may have seen my current configuration in a recent post. You may or may not know that the default clock speed of an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 is 2.40GHz. [...]
