How stupid is Snoop Dogg?

by Steve on Oct.30, 2006, under Bell-ends, Music, News

That’s a question you’ve got to ask after reading that he was recently arrested at Bob Hope Airport (formerly Burbank) in California with a gun and marijuana in his possession. Seriously, in today’s security climate at airports, particularly American ones, what kind of a fucking moron do you need to be to bring drugs and a gun to one?

Sorry for the lack of updates by the way, despite being off work all week I haven’t had anything worthwhile to post!

Home.

by Steve on Oct.21, 2006, under Motors, Travel

Got in the door last night at about 7.45.
My flight was merely an hour late leaving Heathrow, which wasn’t entirely unexpected given that, well, it is Heathrow. Unfortunately this extra hour meant i left Dublin Airport in the middle of the Friday rush hour. Took about an hour to get from the airport car park to the Red Cow roundabout. Bleh. I’ve nothing but good things to say about the Naas road now that all the roadworks are finished though, except that Irish people don’t have a clue how to use a 3-lane road!

Time to go home.

by Steve on Oct.19, 2006, under Motors, Travel

Woohoo, I go home tomorrow. I write this via overpriced Swisscom wifi at my hotel in Zurich. Flying out at 11 tomorrow to the hell that is Heathrow, then assuming their security don’t fuck me up I get a connecting flight to Dublin in the afternoon \o/

Oh interweb, how I’ve missed you over these last 2 weeks.

On a completely unrelated topic, thanks to Der Autobahn I have learned that the top speed of a 1.6 litre Toyota Corolla hatchback is 200 kph (that’s 124 mph, imperial weirdos), at least if you believe its speedometer. At that speed it was making unpleasant and frankly scary whistling and rattling noises. Also, its brakes are a bit crap. Don’t tell Hertz, ok?

Working it.

by Steve on Oct.16, 2006, under Real Life™, Travel

Still in Germany, still working hard. Will be here till 9 or 10 tonight, back in at 7 tomorrow morning. Spent the weekend in Konstanz. Still a lovely city but not as nice as it was in the summer, of course. I look forward to my week off work when I get out of here on Friday! Hopefully this time the gimps at Heathrow won’t lose my baggage on the way home.

Seeya!

Gone again.

by Steve on Oct.10, 2006, under Real Life™, Travel

I probably should have mentioned this earlier, but I’m away working again. Back to Germany where the weather (at least here in the south) is a lot better than back home at the moment.
I’ve been gone since Sunday (came here via Zurich again) and won’t be heading home until the 20th. I’ve no internet access in my hotel, so its going to be very quiet here for a while.

Windows Vista RC2 is out

by Steve on Oct.07, 2006, under Nerdism

Nerd alert! Get your copy here. The English 32 bit version is about 2.5GB in size. I’m going to give this a shot, as I was very, very pleased with RC1 (as opposed to Beta 2, which I hated. HATED).

The build number of this release is 5744.

BBC to show Hamster crash

by Steve on Oct.06, 2006, under Motors, News, Television

This seems to be a bit of an about-turn from the Beeb who were previously rumbling about canning Top Gear. According to RTE News, they now plan to show – documentary style – Richard Hammond’s 300 mph Vampire jet car crash.

Bosses have decided to show a special programme about his accident, if Richard agrees.

Hammond, nicknamed Hamster, is set to fully recover from “significant” brain injuries sustained when the jet-powered car flipped and crashed during a stunt for ‘Top Gear’.

The BBC will now wait until the 36-year-old is fully recovered before confirming the project.

A source told The Daily Mirror: “The aim is not to be gruesome but to show all the preparations. Then we’ll look at what went wrong and perhaps learn lessons.”

Go Hamster go!
