Ryanair in landing-near-to-destination shocker

A Ryanair fight from Liverpool to Derry last night landed at a British army base rather than the City of Derry airport, which is 6 miles away.

Yes, I’m still laughing.

Eh? It wasn’t an emergency landing. The muppet just landed it in the wrong place.

He’s just lucky the runway was long enough.
I think it was a 737 he was flying and that runway was probably designed for training/light attack aircraft.

Plus, he was talking to Derry Tower the whole way in. I can only imagine what that conversation sounded like:

“Derry, on approach for landing on runway 27″

    “Ermm… No you’re not”
