Photos from Friday night

Photos from the small time booze up (in which 2 of us were not drinking due to having to drive) on Friday night after getting results from Carlow IT are now up in the photo gallery. (a massive 4 photos in all)
If you weren’t in my class this year these really won’t be very interesting for you.

Bell-ends of the week: Michelin

Ooh, haven’t done one of these in a few weeks. This week’s honour goes to tyre manufacturer, Michelin:
This year’s American grand prix had a grand total of six cars taking part, due to Michelin announcing that they “couldn’t guarantee the safety of their tyres“, so the only teams that took part in the race were those running non-Michelin tyres, i.e. Ferrari, Jordan and Minardi.
That’s a bit of a hollow victory for you there, Mr Schumacher.

Relocating

In a few weeks time, my employer is moving me to Northern Ireland for about 6 months, to work in their site in a town a few miles south of Belfast. As such, it looks like I’ll be living in Belfast.
Having never worked outside the Republic of Ireland before, has anyone got any tips/pointers etc? At the moment, it looks like I will continue to be paid in Euros and paying tax in RoI by PAYE by my employer, but I will also be getting expenses.

Oh yeah, any particular areas I should stay the hell away from when looking for accommodation? :)

Please leave a comment below if you have any advice.

Thanks.

Fixed

The photo gallery is back online, after I finally got around to fixing it today.

Results!

I just got my degree results via the IT Carlow website.
2nd class honours, and I’m bloody delighted with it! I’m interested in finding out how I did in each individual subject but that info won’t be available for a couple of weeks - but hey, it doesn’t matter now!

YEAH! WOOOOO!

Aldi head unit

In next Thursday’s Aldi specials :
Tevion MP3 CD head unit for a measly €79.99. I think I’ll pick one of these up - my crappy Ford 3000 Traffic casette unit could do with replacing. Being Ford of course, its not standard, so a fascia adaptor is required to fit a new head unit, and ISO adaptors are also required to connect it to the Ford wiring.

Features:
4 x 40 watt RMS power output
Anti-shock 40 sec CD & 120 sec CD MP3
MP3 with ID 3 Tag
Super-bright VFD multi-colour display
FM/AM/LW PLL radio with RDS function
30 stations preset memory with automatic scan and store
Manual fold-down front panel
Auto loading CD mechanism
Scan, repeat, forward, shuffle and random
Pre-set equalizer
FLAT/CLASSIC/ROCK/POP/JAZZ
Electronic control of VOL/BAS/TRE/BAL/FAD
Mute & load function
Security LED when away from car
Includes RCA connector and ISO connector

Reads CDRWs too. Nice.

Moving…

If you can see this, you’re seeing my site on its new webhost. Impressive, since the DNS details were only changed a few hours ago.
The photo gallery is broken at the moment, but besides that, everything else is up and running.

Referrers

Hello to the boys in blue!
Heh, reading referrer logs really can provide some interesting/entertaining information. For instance, I’ve had a visitor originating from police.uk, via Google UK, searching for “rachelle pantoja” within the last hour :)

For those who don’t know (or haven’t seen the post from a couple of days ago), Rachelle Pantoja is the sexy Manchester Police officer who got her kit off for lads magazine, Zoo.
There’s been a shitload of other people coming here from search engines looking for the same keywords, along with long-time crowd pleasers “America FUCK YEAH!” and “Cillit BANG!“.

Trouble in Paradise

From RTE News:

The Tánaiste has denied there are tensions in the Cabinet over proposals to create café-bars, and she has rejected suggestions that the Minister for Justice, Michael McDowell, had climbed down over the issue.

Ms Harney told reporters the important thing was to have greater competition and liberalisation.

She was asked about comments on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland programme by Senator Tom Morrissey, who said Fianna Fáil had no values.

Ms Harney said this was not her view and that she believed the next election was still two years away.

The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Micheál Martin, has also denied that there are any tensions at the Cabinet table over the café-bar proposals.

He said as far as he was aware no decision had yet been taken and we would have to wait and see what emerges from Minister McDowell’s meeting with Fianna Fáil backbenchers.

Wouldn’t it be absolutely wonderful if this was capable of bringing down the current shower of cowboys in government? I can’t see the PD’s having the backbone for it though, as they’re far too comfortable being Fianna Fail lackeys, and it doesn’t look like they have any hope of getting into government with any other party.

I love Rockstar Games.

I’ve been playing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas since its release on PC on Friday, and I have to say it beats the shit out of the Playstation 2 version. I had the PS2 version since its original release last year, but never progressed very far in it because of the shitty joypad controls and the horrible framerate, scenery pop-up etc due to the lack of horsepower provided by the ageing PS2. Now I enjoy the game with keyboard and mouse (the way it should be), high resolution (1280 x 1024), anti-aliasing, maximum draw distance, and most importantly: fun.
Its also nice to see that Rockstar have maintained their usual sense of humour throughout the game. Here’s an example:
