Life-size X-Wing on eBay

People selling crazy shit on eBay is nothing new, but this is the first time I’ve seen it at this magnitude.
Somebody is selling a life-sized X-Wing that was apparently produced to promote the release of the Star Wars special editions a few years back.

He’s set a reserve price of $40,000 and a buy it now price of $85,000. I can think of much better things to spend that kind of money on.

New Family Guy

Not that I’m advocating the downloading of eh… things off the Internet, but the first episode of the new series of Family Guy (due to air in the U.S. on May 4th) has been leaked onto certain BitTorrent sites, and I had the opportunity to see it.
The show has not lost anything since it was first cancelled. I laughed my head off, to be honest. Previously seeing films like the Blues Brothers and Hitchcock’s North By Northwest makes it that much more funny.

Family Guy - Pinocchio

Cheers

Thanks to John for hooking me up with a copy of the Tie Fighter CD :). All I need now is a USB joystick (some bastard outbid me on ebay at the last minute… as usual).

Photos of new Xbox

That’s Xbox 360 to you and me.
Pictures here. Looks very macintosh doesn’t it?
Wireless controllers too apparently.
Oh, some more pictures and speculation here too.

Tie Fighter Collector’s CD

I had this game years ago on my old 486 when I was about 14 or 15 years old. Needless to say it has since disappeared. It was (still is, actually) one of my favourite games, ever.
Anyone know where I’d be able to pick up another copy cheap? I was bidding on one on ebay but some guy clearly wanted it a lot more than me, judging by the way he kept on bidding and bidding.

I’m even bidding on a cheap joystick (99p sterling, postage is going to cost about 4 times that) on ebay for whenever I get my hands on a copy of it. I will probably have to use workarounds like VDMSound or DOSBox to get the game to work on a modern machine, but hey - that’s all part of the fun of it.

The weather

Its gone shitty again. Looks like its going to be a crappy, wet, dreary weekend. Pity that, and it was lovely yesterday to boot.

Looking out the window now, I’m glad I’m not driving my motorbike any more (which, by the way, is for sale).

Layer Cake

Layer Cake is a good movie. Rent it.

“Ahern backs RTÉ access for Irish in UK”

According to this report on RTE news, Bertie Ahern is willing to back the broadcasting of RTE to Irish emigrants in the UK. I have no problem with that, but what I DO have a problem with is the fact that Emmet Stagg stuck his oar in and suggested that OH MAYBE IT COULD BE FUNDED BY YET ANOTHER HIKE IN THE TV LICENCE FEE!!

FUCK OFF!

We pay a ridiculously high licence fee already, and get a sub-par service in return. RTE can go and shove it up their holes.

SixXS

You rock. That is all.

New pope

So there’s a new pope in the Vatican (Benedict XVI, aka Joseph Ratzinger), and he’s already 78 years of age. I guess we’re going to have the whole media circus around the next conclave within a few short years then.
